Malachi 2: God Hates Corruption and Divorce Collin Leong. June 11, 2026 (v1-9) The LORD Rebukes the Priest (v1-3) "O priests, this command is for you. If you will not listen, if you will not take it to heart to give honor to my name, says the LORD of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart. Behold, I will rebuke your offspring, and spread dung on your faces, the dung of your offerings, and you shall be taken away with it." Exp: God change his audience to the priests again. Malachi 1: Giving God Our Best Collin Leong. June 5, 2026 (v1-5) The LORD's Love For Israel (v1) The Oracle of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi. Exp: Malachi means "my messenger". There are no other description of Malachi in the scripture, we do not know his ancestry or which tribe he came from. Though he is "nobody", his message is powerful, which came from God Himself. Anyone of us, the "nobody" can also send a message from God to anyone - family, friends, church and even those who hate us. (See the Introduction to Malachi  blog for more details about this book.)   Introduction to Malachi: God Has Always Loved Us Collin Leong. September 9. 2025 A. Historical Summary 1. Author and Background Malachi means “My Messenger” in Hebrew. He is the last of the twelve Minor Prophets (who wrote shorter books). Unlike other prophets, Malachi gives no personal details —no lineage, hometown, or historical markers. His identity remains somewhat mysterious, emphasizing his role as a divine mouthpiece rather than a public figure. His ministry likely occurred around 435 BC , during or shortly after the governorship of Nehemiah , in the Persian period . The temple had been rebuilt (completed in 515 BC), but the spiritual vitality of the people had waned . Worship was corrupt, priests were negligent, and the people were cynical. 2.
